Editorial Review:

Product Description:

Laurel was mesmerized, staring at the pale things with wide eyes. They were terrifyingly beautiful—too beautiful for words.

Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.

In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Reading with Tequila
Wings was completely different than I had expected; different from any faerie story that I've ever read, really. Its fresh new look at faeries was completely fascinating. Aprilynne Pike took a faerie's known affinity for nature and used it to weave a story somehow both less and more mystical than the known origins of the creatures.

Laurel's reactions to the changes in her body seem almost painfully real. Her fear was honest and as a reader you could feel her anxiety as if it was your ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Wings
As I've said before, I have not read many books about faeries (I think this and Wondrous Strange/Darklight would be it), but I really think that all the different takes on them are fascinating. All of the background/history information was interesting, but even more interesting was the actual evolution and biology of the faeries. And I actually learned a few things that I'm much more likely to remember from Wings than Biology class!

While none of the characters were particularly spectacular, ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Wingless
My two friends have been raving about this book for days. They lent me a rather battered copy, at least by my tastes (I don't even like dog-earing). The premise sounds interesting, the reviews are mixed, and the title and cover looks like something out of a Kotex add. Here we go.......

All right. This book is about 15 year old Laurel, who discovers she's a faerie after a flower blooms out of her back (faeries are apparently plant people). ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - a well written story
I must admit, the cover did catch my attention when I first saw the book. I'm always looking for new fantasy books with a good story and I can say that this book was worth buying. In the begginning I was curious to see how the story would develop. It didn't really grab me until the whole bump thing started to grow and that's when the story held me to its pages. The only thing I regret is not knowing more of Tamani. I really wanted the story to go a little more in depth with him. I think he could have made ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A sweet and magical love story
Review courtesy of [...]

I bought this book because Stephenie Meyer told me to. Or at least that's how I translated her cover endorsement, "A remarkable debut." Stephenie is the reason I found out about the phenomenal Hunger Games, so I take her book recommendations seriously. And once again I'm glad I did.

Wings is a sweet love story about fifteen year old Laurel, who moves to a new town, meets the affable David, and finds out she is a fairy. When she seeks out answers about her ... Read More
