Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Wisconsin, 1961. Evelyn “Button” Peters is nine when Winnalee Malone and her sister, Freeda, blow into town–and from the moment she sees them, Button knows this will be a summer unlike any other.

Much to her mother’s dismay, Button is fascinated by the Malone sisters, especially Winnalee, a feisty scrap of a thing who carries around a shiny silver urn containing her mother’s ashes and a tome she calls “The Book of Bright Ideas.” It is here, Winnalee tells Button, that she records everything she learns: her answers to the mysteries of life. But sometimes those mysteries conceal a truth better left buried. In this summer of dry heat and family upheaval, loyalties will be tested, unlikely alliances formed, and devastating secrets revealed. And when it’s over, no one–from Winnalee and her sister to Button and her family–will ever be the same.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Great Read
My second read by this author, and i was not disappointed. I loved it. I stayed up all nite one nite to finish the book. Just the read i needed after two non-fiction, deep books.

I really enjoy the writing style of this author. I loved the story, the characters, i found it entertaining, moving, creative, and warm. Loved it!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Remarkable!
The Book of Bright Ideas is the third book I have read by Sandra Kring and I can't wait for her new one. Ms. Kring has a way words that makes you feel what each person in the book is feeling. I know the phrase we all go back to "I couldn't put it down". Well not only did I feel that way but I cried when I came to the end of this wonderful story (I wanted more!). Thank you so much for this heart warming story.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Book of Bright Ideas
This has become my favorite book and I have now read it 3 times. My copy is well worn because I have shared it with everyone at work and they all love it as well. It is a great book that shows that even the most unlikely people can change our lives.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A dance with the fairies....
Just finished this lovely book. An adult story, from a child's point of view. About sisterhood and motherhood, judging and understanding, and about changes, BIG changes. I found that every female character related to an aspect of myself. Winnalee's shining light and Button's quivering need for acceptance and love. Freeda's vivaciousness and Jewel's desire to be good enough. And Verdella's natural maternal instinct that touches all.

I was swept up the moment Freeda and Winnalee ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Alright, kind of "fluffy"
Not a bad book, but don't expect any real brain work here. The book is laid out on the table, the plot is somewhat predictable, and the characters are a bit contrived and superficial. This book is a great poolside book, when you don't want to think much and simply want entertainment.
