Editorial Review:
Product Description: “Barr turns history into a drama, with bright writing and a fascinating cast of characters.” —Mary Foster, Associated Press T. E. Lawrence’s classic Seven Pillars of Wisdom made the Arab revolt a legend and helped turn him into the mythical “Lawrence of Arabia.” Setting the Desert on Fire is both a masterly account of the intrigue behind the revolt and its startling consequences for the present-day Middle East and a portrait of Lawrence that brings fresh insight to the true nature of the master mythmaker. 31 photos; 3 maps.

This is an interesting account of TELawrence in the desert with more information then I really needed to know but all in all well worth the read. Good geograhphy of the Saudi desert and mountains. The accounts of TEL gives a different view of a difficult man who had many issues with himself and others.
Definitely recommended for those who want details and an expert account of TEL.

Lawrence (a.k.a. "Lawrence of Arabia") and how he played a key role in British efforts to set off an Arab revolt.

A well written history of the Arab revolt that illuminates some of the background maneuvering of the British involvement in the Middle East. It gives you a better understanding of the roots of the problems western governments are now having earning the trust of the Arab peoples.
