I love this gas light series, especially since victoria brings her characters, main and secondary, to life and makes you care about them. It is also a page turner. I'm particularly fond of Brian and Aggie.I 've read 7 of them and can't wait for the next three.

I love mysteries in old Nw York. This book really shows me New York city in at the turn of the century. Great plot!

I thoroughly enjoy Victoria Thompson's plot lines and characters. She weaves a rich and compelling story in each of her novels.
Rating: -
I love Victoria Thompson's books. She manages to send a message about the period she writes about without (usually) becoming preachy, a fault with some of the "big names" in period fiction. This book tackles racism, immigration issues and the phenomena of the victim becoming the abuser (in persecuted minorities). The period and location she writes about are near where and when my grandparents were born, so the stories have a special meaning to me, but they are good reads.
Rating: -
Victoria Thompson has a wonderful writing style, her books always have me on the edge of my seat, and I never figure out who the murderer is until the end. One of my favorite authors, and as always Murder in Chinatown lives up to all of the other gaslight mysteries.
