Product Description:
With more than 275,000 copies sold, this is the story of the Church for today's readers.
This third edition improves the most engaging and readable single-volume history of the Church by bringing the story into the twenty-first century. Faced with some astonishing changes in the Islamic world, a global resurgence of Roman Catholicism, the decline of Christianity in the West coupled with the rapid growth of evangelical and Pentecostal Christianity in the southern and eastern hemispheres, readers need a current explanation with intellectual substance that will provide historical context and update readers on all these new developments. The new edition of Church History in Plain Language does that in a stimulating manner, and it promises to be the new standard for readable Church History.
Features include: - Includes contemporary developments, such as the growth of Christianity in China and the rise of global Islam

This is a well written history. Shelley makes the Church history interesting and understandable. The promise of the title is fulfilled. It covers most of the important people, events, and ideas from the time of Christ to the current age.

I loved this book so much I gave it to a friend who was especially impressed by it and the time lines. He like it so much he gave it to a pastor friend. Well done, good price, worth keeping for future reference.

This book should silence anyone who thinks that God stopped working in the world 2000 years ago. We see throughout this book that God has been every bit as active in peoples' lives since the Bible closed as He was when it was written.
It's hard to read this book and not realize ... Read More

Definitely clearly presented and understandable. A tool worthy of study concerning the establishment of Church history and those responsible for Its progress and theological directions.
