These days more and more people are ditching the corporate world to go out on their own. Some are renegades. Some just are no longer marketable. When your industry disappears or you reach the age of age discrimination, your options change.
Jonathan Fields gives some of the best information I've seen anywhere about starting your own business. The best chapter is Chapter 11: Is the World Ready for You? Fields has some of the best advice for identifying a market I've seen anywhere, especially ... Read More

There are lots of books out there that purport to help you turn entrepreneur and make mega-bucks. Few are worthwhile. This is definitely big time worthwhile. So is Pam Slim's "Escape From Cubicle Nation".
Career Renegade is not a "You can make millions of dollars sitting by the pool in your underwear" book and it is not a "Somehow the money will find you if you love what you do" book. Rather, it is a book that shows you how there are many, many ways in which you can make a quite decent living ... Read More

This book was recommended to me by a close friend---one of many who offered editing suggestions on my last book---but I don't remember which one. Whoever you are, thank you so much!

Career Renegade is one of the most practical guides for aspiring, growing and established entrepreneurs and solo professionals. It's rare these days to find a book with such meaty details and so much practical and actionable advice. That explains why it was one of my most underlined and dog-eared books of 2009! But it's not just the insights and step-by-step direction. It's also the inspiring case studies that Fields weaves throughout the book, which I found to be both inspirational and informative. If you're ... Read More
