Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Fast on the feathers of his highly successful Extraordinary Chickens, Stephen Green-Armytage is back with a fascinating look at the stunningly ornate plumage and surprisingly expressive personalities of more than 70 different types of pheasants—peacocks included! Showcased in glorious full-color photographs are Long- tailed Mikados, Satyr Tragopans, Bornean Crested Firebacks—each looking more exotic than the next. A brief text offers an ideal introduction to the pheasant family and an annotated index of species follows the photos.

Serious birders will treasure this unique volume, but anyone familiar with the peacock's magnificent fan of iridescent tail feathers will be amazed and amused by the complex shapes, shadings, and patterns of its many exotic cousins—not to mention the peacocks bred in bronze, purple, green, brown, emerald, and even pure white!

The authors book on Pheasants along with his photos are of the same high quality and information as his book on Extrordinary Pigeons.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Nature's Beauty
Beautiful photography, attractively presented. A perfect small coffee table book and an inspiration for artists and lovers of nature's beauty.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Just a bunch of pheasants
Stephen Green-Armytage is a professional photographer whose work has appeared in LIFE and other magazines. He has also published several artistic, colorful books on birds, and even a couple of wall calendars.

In my opinion, "Extraordinary Pheasants" is his most boring book. But perhaps I'm spoiled by "Extra Extraordinary Chickens" or "Extraordinary Pigeons". Sure thing, all the usual pheasant species are in this book, including Diamond Pheasant, Golden Pheasant and Peafowl. And yet, ... Read More

I am a fly tyer and fly fisherman and I picked up this book to learn more about pheasants. This book has many fine photos which helps in my fly tying activities.
