Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Catechism of continuity
The New Saint Joseph First Communion Catechism compiles the chapters from the Baltimore Catechism that pertain to the sacraments of Penance and the Eucharist and expands them in language that a first communicant can understand. For instance, in Lesson 1, "God Made Us," the catechism asks, "What must you do to be happy with God in heaven?" The traditional answer -- "... I must know Him, love Him, and serve Him in this world" -- is given and then annotated:

"First I must KNOW God.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - New is Old...in a good way!
This is an awesome Catechism to teach your children the Truth with a capital "T". The text clearly teaches the beautiful tenets of Catholicism in a way that children can grasp, and the illustrations depict these deeper truths in a tangible way. This Catechism will be enjoyed by both children and parents and I highly recommend it for formation especially for preparation for reception of First Holy Communion.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - First Communion Catechism Proves Helpful in Forming Little Catholics
I first purchased this book when my oldest son was preparing to receive his First Holy Communion 5 years ago. I have used it for his siblings as well in their preparations, and most recently purchased several copies to pass out to the parents of the children to whom I am teaching in a First Communion class at our parish. Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - True Catholic Doctrine--Superb Teaching Tool

This wonderful Catechism teaches grades 1-3 all about God, creation, the Saints and how we must live to become Saints. I teach First Communion class and I think EVERY child needs to have this book. It will be the best $3 you ever spend. It is written in age-appropriate language with illustrations so that the children can understand it easily.

God's Truths have never changed-- we as a society have changed. This book teaches the Truth. It was published in 1963. I am not sure why the ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - New Saint Joseph First Communion Catechism
I was dismayed that the "New" First Communion Catechism was published in 1963. Although some of the prayers and information is the same, the photos are obviously very dated, and the references to the "confession box" and "communion rail" won't do us any good in preparing our children for the sacraments. I am very disappointed.
