Product Description: Hiking from Here to WOW: Utah Canyon Country guides hikers to the most compelling destinations in southern Utah's spectacular canyon country. This second book in the new full-color WOW series covers 90 trails that epitomize the "wonder of wilderness."
In their years of their research, the authors hiked over 1600 miles through Zion, Bryce, Escalante-Grand Staircase, Glen Canyon, Grand Gulch, Cedar Mesa, Canyonlands, Moab, Arches, Capitol Reef, and the San Rafael Swell. They took more than 2000 photos and hundreds of pages of field notes. Then they culled their list of favorite hikes down to 90--each selected for its power to incite awe. Coverage ranges from short dayhikes to multi-day backpacking adventures. The book describes precisely where to find the redrock cliffs, slickrock domes, soaring arches, and ancient ruins that make southern Utah unique. It offers the boot-tested advice you need to create rewarding adventures. And it does so in a refreshing style--honest, literate, entertaining, and inspiring.
The book's full-color interior features 220 striking photographs, engaging text, and a trail map for each dayhike and backpack trip.

Was really looking forward to this book as we love to hike in Utah! (planning our 2010 trip) Within an hour of delivery (1/27/10) book cover pulled apart from binding. Have not even had time to read about many hikes. Book appears to be what we were looking for but are very very disappointed in binding. Hate using a rubber band to keep it together when it is brand new!!!!! Only gave 3 stars because of binding. Content appears better than other Utah hiking books we've purchased.

This has the makings of a good book but you soon tire of the writing style. Sappy and preachy, written by Canadians who bop into Utah, profess to be experts, but really miss the point most of the time. Save your money, there are much better books out there. Unless you appreciate someone constantly telling you what to think, or what to feel when on the trail.

This book is great for the reader who wants to get out and go to specific sites. I don't always have time to scout out new places and this gives very detailed instructions on how to find a site. I am very unhappy with the binding. If it weren't for that I would give it 5 stars.

Although very experienced in alpine trekking, this book provided me with great information on how to approach the canyonlands environment. In addition to needed details on specific areas, the WOW guide provides an excellent overview of what to bring and what to expect.
The book is laced with information on topography, geology, a bit of history, and wildlife.....all adding "fuel" to those considering an initial backcountry canyonlands experience and well as supplementing those with a ... Read More

Takes on a great deal and doe a pretty good job. However, in the case of the Comb Ridge area, which is given short shrift at the end of the book, the directions to archeological sites are a little screwy and not complete. Still, I would recommend for anyone trying to choose the right hikes for their content and to match their abilities to the terrain.
