Editorial Review:
Product Description: The story of a man who started life with almost everything against him. Truman Mahoney struggles through life immersed in the criminal lifestyle. He spends many years in prison followed by a dangerous attempt to reclaim stashed stolen loot and make a new life of luxury. Tragically victimized by the underworld of crime and completely broken by the huge hand of destiny, he finds God and turns his life into an example of useful wholeness.

I had the particular pleasure of meeting Truman Mahoney back in 1975 and was as impressed by the man as I was by his story, which has been richly retold in this book. I was a college student doing research on criminals from the Depression era and he happened to be attending my then-father in law's church in Vidor, Texas. Those interview tapes have long ago vanished but I remember being moved by his gentle nature and faith, to the point that I hoped that someone would someday put down his story in ... Read More

This was one of the most interesting books I have read in a very long time. I do not find much time to devote to relaxing with any book, but since it has been placed in my hands, I have enjoyed the ease of reading and the content of each and every letter written within its cover. A story well told full of mishaps and misconduct and tragedy, along with the satisfaction of getting away with criminal behavior, or so you think?...How truly God never gives up. I recommend this to anyone wanting to ... Read More

This book was ideed a "page turner." I found my heart beating a little faster at times when the victim(s) were in danger be it the good man or bad! I learned things such as a look inside Alcatraz and the real story of the bird man...WOE--!
The telling of history also resonated with me concerning Model T Fords and no indoor plumbing and other things. I had seen old movies in earlier years of bank robbers and so I could picture the events as I read. But this was the real thing!

I love an inspirational story and Hounded, Truman's Story shines as to how the planting of a mustard seed can grow in someone's soul. This biography of Truman Mahoney and his brother Harry recounts their lives as complete devotees to lawlessness, violence, and mayhem. It's interesting to note that these men's father was a Methodist minister and possible the divine seed was planted in Truman at a very young age.
Clifford's detailed accounts of these men's careers in bank robberies and the years ... Read More

First of all, I was not prepared to enjoy this book. However, I was taken in by the unique approach by the author to tell the story in a series of letters to a friend.
HOUNDED is a fascinating biography of a man whose seeds for a perennial garden of crime were planted at an early age when he was "dismissed" by his parents, leaving him the task of sorting out his uncertain future. His love for an older brother further conflicted with his deeply seeded sense of right and wrong, causing him to choose ... Read More
