Product Description:
Former residents of Peru, husband and wife Ross Wehner and Renée del Gaudio offer an insider's view of the country, from exploring the churches and artisan neighborhoods of Cusco to avoiding the crowds at Machu Picchu and picnicking on the wilderness beach of the Reserva Nacional Paracas. Wehner and del Gaudio include unique trip ideas such as Getting off the Gringo Trail, Archaeological Treasures, and 10 Days in Peru. Packed with information on dining, transportation, and accommodations, Moon Peru has lots of options for a range of travel budgets. Every Moon guidebook includes recommendations for must-see sights and many regional, area, and city-centered maps. Complete with details on trekking the Inca Trail, exploring the Amazon, and surfing in Lima, Moon Peru gives travelers the tools they need to create a more personal and memorable experience. With expert writers, first-rate strategic advice, and an essential dose of humor, Moon guidebooks are the cure for the common trip.

A good book for a first timer to Peru. It gives good information on the middle-end and lower-end for hotels and restaurants.

I found this guide very useful for most of my trip, including for maps, attractions and planning purposes. But some of the information on new restaurants and hotels is missing, which I think would be the case for any book more than 2 years old. Its the only guide book I have used for Peru and was pleased with it.

We used this guidebook to travel to Peru this month and wished we would've used another guide. The layout wasn't the most user friendly and much of the information was inaccurate. Maps are hard to use as they don't give you a key to find locations, but you have to scan the entire map to find the place you're looking for. Their descriptions aren't the most helpful either as they often lacked enough information. We also had Lonely ... Read More

I just got back from a month long backpacking trip through Peru with the Moon guide, while my friend who I traveled with had Lonely Planet (LP). I liked the Moon guide for its well written and personal writing style. They have a lot of interesting asides about specific sites and activities, which read like a close friend recounting the tale. However, LP manages to cram in more information specifically more cheap hostals for each city. I could tell that the writers stayed at the luxury hotels based on their ... Read More

My wife and I visited Peru for the first time this past May. It was one of our favorite trips. The Moon Handbook, Peru, was a valuable travel aid. It provided us with a good review of the not to be missed sights in the places we visited (Lima, Arequipa, Colca Canyon, Cusco, Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu). We especially found the restaurant recommendations to be excellent. We tried several of them and found the service and food qualities to be above our expectations. In addition, Ross Wehner and Renee ... Read More
