Very interesting book - cant wait to try some of the patterns. I am a beginning quilter and many ladies in my class recommended these books to me.

As quilting books go, this one is light on hints and advice when it comes to the actual placement of the blocks and the construction. It gives details on how to line up the fabric and cut the pieces. I would have liked some discussion on what works best on placement of blocks to achieve certain effects. Maybe the first book has more of this, but this one does not. I am an advanced quilter and thought the book lacking, so I think this would not be appropriate for a beginner.

OK, so I bought the first book, One Block Wonders and was awestruck! The colors and designs were so intriguing and beautiful and I ran out, bought fabric and made several quilt tops. (Caution beginners: There are no instructions for how to add a border, bind, etc. The book just states, "Quilt and bind."). At the time I was a bit annoyed that the book showed cubes in the quilts but did not have the instructions, as I felt it was a bit dishonest, but I was willing to "forgive." Well, loe and behold, ... This is a wonderful book for the medium skilled and a quilter that has been quilting for years. Very nicely laid out with very understandable instructions. Beautiful examples with the instructions and beautiful pictures of the finished quilts. A must have for any quilters library.

As I ordered this book, I was not sure what to expect. I, also, ordered the first book, which, in retrospect, is too basic for most quilters in comparison. This book elaborates on the original simple and brilliant theme, while adding a new perspective, which any quilter can easily make their own and take further.
Other than explaining the principles already set down in the first book, here the reader is encouraged to get a bit more experimental and infuse more fabrics and variations ... Read More
