Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Well researched history of Passenger Trains in America
I liked the book. It was very well researched and provided an interesting view of the glory days of rail travel. I recommend this book for passenger train enthusiasts.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Profusely illustrated throughout
The railroad was a key element in transporting goods and people across the American landscape. Even with the development of automobiles and interstate highway systems, railroads continue to have a vitally important role in American transportation and development. In "American Passenger Trains: WWII to Amtrak", railroading enthusiast Patrick C. Dorin has compiled a visual history of the trains and train engines most associated with passenger travel by rail during the second half of the 20th Century. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Lots of Photos
Good general photo coverage about passenger trains for the novice. Chapters covers corridor service, local train operations, overnight long distance services, long distance day trains, Florida, MidWest to the Gulf, transcontinental services, mail & express, Alaska, equipment and motive power. Publisher did a good job reviewing text for spelling errors than the author's other books by a different publisher.
