Editorial Review:
Product Description: The Golf Fanatic's Guide to Hawaii is a comprehensive guidebook for golfers visiting Hawaii. Featuring color photography on every page and a sophisticated layout, the enticing coverage of the top 50 publicly accessible courses in the Aloha State will excite first-timers and return visitors alike. A former resident of Maui and the Big Island, guidebook author and avid golfer Bryan Fryklund (Adventure Guide: Hawaii the Big Island) traveled to six islands, playing each course and rating its difficulty, beauty, design intrigue, maintenance, "swank value"; and price; describing the course, specific holes that personify the experience, and the "19th hole"; interviewing a course representative for playing tips, as well as information for a vital statistics chart; providing driving directions; and reviewing nearby accommodation options. With candor and humor, Fryklund inserts local color into his course descriptions and sidebars, which range from explanations of golf terms such as "links golf" to insights into Hawaiian mythology. Golf Fanatic will be an invaluable tool on the Hawaiian courses, and a treasured souvenir after returning home.

This guidebook is awesome! Finally one just for golfers!!!! And I know that the author is really a golf fanatic because he oh so wisely included descriptions of the 19th holes ("pukas" like they say in Hawaii). There's nothing like an icy mai tai after breaking 80 on a beautiful ocean course. Oh yeah...

Calling all Golf Lovers...you are going to really love this book and the beautiful courses in Hawaii it talks about!
I recieved a copy and found it so useful and packed full of information that I bought a copy for my son-in-law for Christmas. He's headed for Hawaii the end of January and I know it will be a "must have" to pack in his bag.
Not just information on courses, but all the resorts and related items that go with these marvelous courses. Every island is covered, ... Read More

Maybe I shouldn't admit this, but I used this book to get my husband to finally plan a trip to Hawaii. He loves golf and so this was a perfect anniversary present/hint. He has been telling his golf buddies about this book and all about our upcoming trip, so I know he didn't plan the whole thing just to humor me (although I can't say I would mind if he did). This book turned out to be a win-win gift!

I am so glad I found this book. There is so much information crammed in, but it reads more like a conversation with a golf buddy. You can tell the author really loves to golf in Hawaii! And he covers all the usual famous (i.e. expensive) courses but also some munys and cheaper places - I've been to Maui three times, but somehow had never heard about Waiehu, which he said has the most oceanfront golf on the island and is also the cheapest. You better believe I'll be hitting that when I head out this ... Read More

I don't have another trip to Hawaii planned soon because the economy isn't exactly rosy, but this book is almost like a souvenir of all the courses I've played. The friend who gave it to me said, "It's like golf porn." I'll have fun while I'm freezing this winter remembering my favorite courses and saving for our next trip.
