Editorial Review:

Description:
Rocky battles his most powerful adversary yetthe ferocious Clubber Lang (Mr. T)in this hard-hitting actioner that comes out swinging with adventure, humor and emotionally charged human drama. For what may be the most exciting and fast-paced film in the series, Sylvester Stallone writes, directs and stars with explosive passion and intensity. As Rocky Balboa (Stallone) fights his way into the hearts of millions, life couldn't be better. He scores ten consecutive wins, lands lucrative endorsement contracts and becomes famous throughout the world. But when Clubber Lang KOs Rocky in a humiliating defeat, it becomes apparent that the "Italian Stallion" has lost his edge. Considering hanging up his gloves, Rocky receives encouragement from an unlikely ally: his old nemesis, Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). With Creed's help, Rocky strives to regain the "eye of the tiger" before confronting Lang in a grueling rematch for the world heavyweight championship.

Amazon.com:

Rocky III: The third installment in the Rocky saga is the last one to matter, and in this case only marginally. The now rich and famous Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) triumphantly pummels a succession of boxing challengers until he encounters Clubber Lang (Mr. T), a human wall of brick who wants a piece of Rocky's action. The Rock's loyal trainer Mickey (Burgess Meredith) has taken ill and dies, so Rocky recruits retired opponent Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers) to whip him into fighting shape after his embarrassing defeat to Clubber. Time for another rematch, mixed in with some family matters involving Rocky's brother-in-law Paulie (Burt Young), who's feeling neglected amid all the hoopla. Not bad as sequels go, boosted by Mr. T.'s taunting presence and yet another rousing finale. For those with a bad case of '80s nostalgia, the hit theme song "Eye of the Tiger" is sure to bring back memories. --Jeff Shannon

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Best of The Sequels
Part 2 was A stupid rehash, part 4 was very cheesy and too political, part 5 was depressing and degrading to Rocky fans, and Rocky Balboa was okay, but not great. This is definitely the best of the sequels,it has everything going for it.First it has A great villian(Mr.T as the monsterous Clubber Lang).Secondly it has the usual great cast, including Burgess Meredith's moving portrayal as A slowly, dying Mickey.Third the story has some new twists,Rocky loses the title and his old nemesis Apollo Creed, comes ... Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Better than the second, purely because of Hulk and Mr. T
The one thing I've looked forward to about the Rocky movies is the famous "Eye Of The Tiger" song. I was quite disappointed that it wasn't in the first two - but I got my wish in this. Although, it could have easily been "Another One Bites The Dust" by Queen - I can't really see it working in that film?

Rocky is now 34, and is now a rich and successful boxer. It shows in everything around him, and he can want for nothing. He's defeated in the ring by Clubber Lang (Mr T, in his film debut ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Rousingly Rocky!
Positives:
Great montage depicting Rocky's life after winning the title.
Terrific bad-guy turn by Mr. T as Clubber Lang.
Fun mix of boxing/wrestling with Hulk Hogan portraying Thunder Lips.
Final fight scene.
Apollo Creed's training of Rocky.
Eye of the Tiger. Great song that's still catchy after all these years.
Stallone pokes fun of himself by pointing out all the plastic surgery he had done after Rocky II.

Negatives:
Burt Young is awful. ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - 3 For T
The Rocky franchise died with the first. There can be no others, as a matter of continuity. "There ain't gonna be no rematch." Remember that? And, yet, there was. That was the pinnacle of the story, breaking the Creed's will. This was never about winning, so much as not giving up. But, whatever.

If there was going to be a second addition, this should have been it. With Clubber holding the title and Rocky determined to take it. That would have been fine, but, no...Sly wanted riches. I can relate. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Movie
I think the matchup vs Mr. T was great. "Prediction?...Pain." That's my favorite line in the whole series. I remember watching this as a kid and is a classic in my book.
