Product Description:
A lawyer finds himself framed for his ex-lover's murder.
Genre: Feature Film-Drama
Rating: R
Release Date: 7-SEP-2004
Media Type: DVD

Amazon.com essential video:
Rich with ambiguity, this smooth adaptation of Scott Turow's bestselling mystery novel stars Harrison Ford as Rusty Sabich, the prosecuting attorney assigned to a case involving the murder of a beautiful, seductive lawyer (Greta Scacchi) with whom he'd been having a secret affair. After the investigation gets off to a slow start, damning evidence points to Rusty as the prime suspect. His career is destroyed when his superior and secondary suspect Raymond Horgan (Brian Dennehy) sets him up for the fall. Bonnie Bedelia plays Rusty's wife Barbara, who is not above suspicion herself. While Ford's performance rides a fine line between presumed innocence and possible guilt, director Alan J. Pakula (All the President's Men) maintains a consistent tone of uncertainty that keeps the viewer guessing. --Jeff Shannon

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - the killer didn't do the math
Spoilers within:
Ridiculous ending. What on earth were the producers thinking? There was NO indication -- throughout the movie -- that the killer was so crazy, that the person couldn't put together even the most basic thought process of how their actions would set Sabich up for a fight for his life. I mean come ON, a simple 2+2=4 would have done it, you wouldn't need to finish a dissertation in Mathematics to figure that much out. I always hate it when the surprise is that a movie character ... Presumed Innocent is a fantastic movie. Really keeps you guessing and at times on the edge of your seat. Truly a surprised ending!!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Surprisingly good legal thriller
The Bottom Line:

Much more realistic and fascinating than your average legal thriller, with few of the stupid tricks that characterize the genre (e.g. witnesses recanting on the stand, multiple personalities, etc.) and a persistently interesting storyline; I'm still not sure I like how the plot resolves itself, but this Pakula-helmed adaptation of Scott Turow's bestseller deserves to be held above the Primal Fears of the world.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - There was a crime, there was a victim, and there is punishment
Prosecutor Rusty Sabich (Harrison Ford) comes in to find out that a co-worker he'd been having an affair with was brutally raped and tortured. His boss Raymond Morgan (Brian Dennehy) gives him the case, despite the two's shared past.

As Rusty progresses with the investigation, evidence is pointing more and more to him. Eventually, he's charged and one of the most compelling court dramas ensues.

"Presumed Innocent" literally had me on the edge of my seat both times I've ... Read More

I enjoy movies, old and new, and the prices @ Amazon are the best. Shipping varies, sometimes is fast, sometimes takes a bit longer. I'm very happy with all they have to offer.
