Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Two fast-paced comic strip stories are chock full of activities, hidden clues and games that bring learning to life for your child. "Read All About It!" features Hank, an ordinary man who idolizes Superman and wishes he were just like him. What will it take for Hank to be a hero like the Man of Steel? In "Mistaken Identity," Superman's clone-gone-wrong, Bizarro, causes trouble at the Daily Planet. Will Bizarro give away Clark Kent's secret identity?
Kids just place the book on the LeapPad player, pop in the cartridge, and touch any page with the Magic Pen to bring learning to life. This book also works with the LeapPad Plus Writing learning system and the Quantum Pad learning system.
What it Teaches:
"Superman" teaches dialogue, vocabulary, synonyms, narration, and identifying action in a story. Use the Learning Guide card to the right to find out more about the general categories of learning for the Superman. By clicking a category on the Learning Guide card, you'll see a list of knowledge areas that children develop when they play with this product and the skills on which those knowledge areas are based.

Editorial Review:
This may be one of the coolest ways to learn. The LeapPad system's unique, patented, multisensory interface already allows kids to enhance reading-comprehension skills without making it seem like work. But what makes this LeapPad book even more fun is that it's a Superman comic book! Kids can follow Superman: Read All About It! and know that they arereading all about it. They'll be able to distinguish between narration and dialogue (first and third person), follow written directions, learn new words and pronunciations, and give detailed, comprehensive accounts of the story afterward. Most of all, they'll have the thrill of following Superman along as he foils the dastardly Bizarro.

It's simple to use (just insert the cartridge and book into a LeapPad), but this system is an innovative technology that provides entertaining, effective learning, designed by a Stanford-trained reading expert. As well, the system has been credited with the TMA's Educational Toy of the Year and People's Choice awards. The books are designed to correlate with national academic standards for the grade levels they target.

Two notes: Make sure the LeapPad book you get is appropriate for the child's educational level; this one should be a challenge for kids up to age 8. As well, know that some LeapBooks work on both LeapPad and LeapPad Pro, like this one, but some books only work with one system. --Diane Beall

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great book for Superman fans!
If you have a superhero fan in your house, be sure to grab this one! It teaches so many things - hand and eye coordination, how to sound out words, how to save the day wearing a cape, etc. My little one just LOVES this thing - we actually bought all three Superhero leappad books and he just loves the comic strip version and story of this one. Batman probably teaches more than this one, but it is also for older children. If you have about a 4-year-old, then be sure to grab this one. It holds ... Read More

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - unhappy!
I have an eight year old and a four year old who love superheroes. I thought this leappad book would be perfect for them, but it totally bores both of them. Don't waste your money. Try one of the other books.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - mostly entertainment, not up to par with others for LeapPad
This is a comic book with some games. When the green "go" circle is pressed, it automatically reads the first box or bubble of text by itself, in a nice voice, which has proper emotion, punctuation, and sound effects. When that bubble is done, the child must touch the next bubble and it reads the entire bubble again. The programming of this book is different than the Leap 1 series, which has the option of reading all the words on the page at one time or else touching the pen to every single word ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Boys love this Superman Book!
My two sons are 5 and 3 years. They LOVE the comic strip format, and they are thrilled to have a book about a "real super hero" for their Leappad. They were interested in some of the learning books for the Leappad, but their interest wasn't long-lived. The Superman book held their attention for hours, and they STILL like to play with it. I like it because it encourages them to enjoy reading while still being fun. The sound effects and story lines are "cool" in my boys' words, and it was well worth ... Read More
