Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Weve talked about making a pirate-themed game for years but wanted to wait until the right one came along. From the moment we first played Loot, we knew we found our buried treasure! Renown game inventor Reiner Knizia has created a highly clever card game that is at once simple to learn and fast to play, while engaging those looking for strategic challenge. Were particularly fond of the team play version, where you and a partner get to look at each others cards and conspire moves. We find that the games even more fun when everyone talks in pirate accents when playing. Give it at try and youll be hooked!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic
This is my second favorite Gamewright game. I really love Frogjuice, but this game is really excellent. It's pretty easy to learn, but there is enough variety to make it interesting the whole time and for many games. You can tell when a game has been well designed and thought out, and this one definitely has. Definitely recommended.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fun family game
This proved to be a very nice game. Easy enough to start, but it does have some levels of startegy and planning that you recognize as you play.
Rules for team play add to the fun.
We've played this with various friends, and they've all gone out and bought their own soon after.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great card game
This card game is great. My wife and I would play with family and her relatives. Kids through adults loved it so much, we had to buy 20 sets for all of the families that wanted one.

The one quirk with the game is that how to end the game is not fully explained. What happens when someone plays their last card? Does the game continue until someone cannot play or immediately after the last card is played?

But that's nitpicky. This game is great, especially for the price.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Earlier Reviewer Mistaken About Rules
A previous reviewer of this game who claimed that there is a flaw in its rules was incorrect. That reviewer wrote: "The problem is one person can basically just wait the other person out and keep drawing cards and rarely ever play until the deck is out. Then at the end, that player will still have cards after the other player has long run out, meaning that they just lay down merchant ships and collect them." Actually, that would be impossible if the game's printed instructions are followed. They state ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Loot - great mass appeal
I've played Loot with many different people, some were serious gamers, others not so much. Loot appeals to a large audience for a number of reasons. At about 20 minutes per game, it's fast to play and doesn't get bogged down in intricate rules or game mechanics. It's also a good balance between luck and strategy. Plus, who doesn't like pirates?

The premise of the game is to capture merchant ships by attacking them with pirate ships. Both types of ships have varying card values, plus there ... Read More
