Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Journey back to the days when California was still under Spanish rule and El Pueblo de la Reina de Los Angeles was a growing community surrounded by sprawling ranchos. The struggle for power to control Alta California's vast wealth often led to rampant injustice. On DVD for the first time ever - fans of all ages can experience classic episodes from Walt Disney's legendary TV series (1957-1959). This Zorro volume chronicles eight swashbuckling adventures starring Guy Williams (TV's Lost in Space) as the masked avenger Don Diego de le Vega. Riding astride his stunning black stallion Tornado to defend the poor and oppressed, his alter ego, El Zorro ("The Fox"), expertly wields bullwhip, sword, and cunning to right every wrong as perhaps the first caped crusader - one who inspired legions more. Contains 8 Episodes from Season 1: Episode 1 - Presenting SeƱor Zorro Episode 2 - Zorro's Secret Passage Episode 3 - Zorro Rides to the Mission Episode 4 - The Ghost of the Mission Episode 5 - Zorro's Romance Episode 6 - Zorro Saves a Friend Episode 7 - Monastario Sets a Trap Episode 8 - Zorro's Ride into Terror

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My hero
DVD arrived quickly in great condition. I love Zorro, especially the Disney version; this Zorro was one of my childhood heroes. I'm so glad it is at last available on DVD.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Best Zorro of All Times
"Zorro" is one of rare TV series that serves adults and kids very well. Guy Williams is always remarkable, as the co-stars, in this incredible and eternal production.
I wonder why the second season is not avaiable on DVD yet.
The only thing that I didn't like about this realease, is the fact that Disney- it seems- does not have the proper respect regarding Zorro. There are no extras, no interviews of any kind, or production pictures. I recomend a very good book about it: "The Zorro Television ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Show is Great--The Packaging is Not
I love the Zorro episodes! I wish both the colorized and BW versions were on the same DVDs. I think having a "How it was made" clip would have really been special too. Of course, we don't know what legal issues may have been occurring behind the scenes even to get these released on DVD. I'm satisfied that the video is stable and clear, unlike my old VHS tapes.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Classic Zorro Series - but colorized
If you prefer to watch the series in the original form of black and white, I do not suggest these DVDs. I loved the series, but this colorized version is pretty poor quality. Not all parts of each frame were colorized, and fade-in/fade-out scenes are sometimes missed. As for the price, if you are not a member of the Disney Movie Club yet, you can get the entire 1st season(all 5 DVDs) for under $35, however, you'll be required to buy 4 more DVDs from the Club in the next 2 years at full price. Really not ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The only one, true Zorro
Just recently, I viewed "The Legend of Zorro"(starring Antonio Banderas)for the second time thinking I may have been hasty in my judgement. But I came away disappointed AGAIN. Besides the inane plot, there seemed to be a lack of real fencing and more "gymnastics" and buffoonery on the part of Zorro.

Which brings me to my original point. The Disney Zorro series was well developed and fairly historically accurate for the time. Granted, you had a certain amount of buffoonery in the Sgt. Garcia character ... Read More
