Product Description: EVENING (DVD) (WS/ENG SDH/SPAN/FRENC/DOL DIG 5.1)
Amazon.com: A star-studded cast brings richness and texture to Evening, a lyrical tale of regret, unrequited love, and hope, written by novelists Susan Minot (Rapture) and Michael Cunningham (The Hours), based on Minot's book. Ann (Vanessa Redgrave) lies ill, deliriously remembering when she came to the summer home of her best friend Lila to be Lila's maid of honor (her younger self is played by Claire Danes). But the young Ann is soon caught between the hungry need of Lila's brother Buddy (Hugh Dancy) and the magnetic outsider Harris (Patrick Wilson). Meanwhile, the elderly Ann is watched by her two daughters, Nina (Toni Collette) and Constance (Natasha Richardson), who wrestle with unresolved feelings towards their mother, their choices in life, and each other. Evening starts off feeling a bit stiff and literary, but gradually finds its rhythm. While the emotional peaks and precious images feel inflated and hollow, the little ephemeral moments--the heartbreaks, yearnings, disappointments, and comforts, the flash of a smile or the widening of an eye--glimmer with warmth and honesty. It's rare that such restraint can be so compelling and so rewarding; Evening is well worth watching for the accumulating emotional power of these small moments. Also featuring Glenn Close and Meryl Streep. --Bret Fetzer

Although complex and difficult to follow, this movie was the most romantic one I have ever seen. A very mature portrayal of the definition of true love between a man and a woman. There were portions where I had to fast forward to avoid nudity and intimate situations. Except for that I would have given the movie a 5 star rating.

I came across this movie while looking for another one here in AMAZON and to my surprise it was a lot better than I expected.
This is one of those movies that goes back and forth in a 40 years time spam.
If you like dramas at all, this one is for you.
I truly recommend it.

Evening was a good film with an interesting cast. They all did their best and I needed no interruptions as I watched this film. It has twists and turns and should have had different editing. I'm not sure what went wrong but I think they tried to put to much into the story. They acting was great.
Rent it don't buy it.

I took a chance and rented this movie. I am so glad I did, even though my eyes are red from crying and I am still choked up.
A woman at the end of her life considers the choices she made throughout it, some freely, some perhaps forced by circumstance or perceived obligation. She reviews the pursuit of her dreams, ambitions and love in the raw light of finality.
She tantalizes her two daughters (played wonderfully and subtly by the late Natasha Richardson and Toni Collette) ... Read More

I think that the films we admire today have some sort of huge plot that need to be fulfilled that a task or goal has to be done. This is not that kind of movie. This movie takes a segment of the life thats full of drama and then shows us that if we survive and continue that tomorrow isnt that far of a stretch. Its jsut about life and regret
