Great pictures, great break down of the different Cardinal eras. However, I grew increasingly disgusted with the condescending and patronizing tone of the author and the needless pot shots in a book for young Cardinal fans. Did Vince Coleman have a troubled time as a New York Met? Yes, but I don't want to read more about the "fire-cracker" incident and less about his base stealing in a picture book about the Cardinals (p. 117). Every Cardinals fan will want to read this historical perspective of their favorite team. Filled with great photographs, it brought each era into focus and helped to explain the reasons for the strong support that this team has always enjoyed.
