Editorial Review:

Product Description:
From the mysteries of our own solar system those that surround unexplored galaxies, history and science collide in this ambitious investigation of the Universe.

Questions about the Universe have consumed man since the dawn of time. In the 50 years since humans made their first tentative explorations of space, we have increased our knowledge of the cosmos dramatically, using powerful telescopes, robotic probes, and manned missions. But only recently has computer technology allowed scientists to illustrate in stunning detail their awe-inspiring conclusions. THE UNIVERSE, a groundbreaking series from THE HISTORY CHANNELĀ®, employs cutting-edge computer-generated imagery to bring distant planets and faraway stars up close, allowing viewers to gaze at black holes and comets, and witness the births and deaths of galaxies and solar systems.

This epic miniseries takes viewers on an exhilarating voyage through the cosmos. From the farthest reaches of distant galaxies back to the familiar face of our moon, THE UNIVERSE brings the mysteries of the heavens down to earth.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Universe...An excellent deal with great possibilities!
Excellent product, as described, and a great transaction with no glitches. Most highly recommend!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - incredible
this series is amazing. so glad to see a channel dedicated the money to creating the beautiful and fascinating visual simulations and explanations of the bizarre universe we live in.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - History Channel's History of the Universe
This product is what should be shown to young people to get them interested in science. Plenty of factual information on a myriad of subjects, including the sun, stars, our solar system, the big bang, planets, and plenty more. If science is what you are interested in, either for personal interest, or for an educational tool, this product is first rate!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - For those who continue to question...
The episode on the Big Bang is worth the price just by itself. For anyone who ever wanted to know how "we" know what we know about the Big Bang, this contains one episode solely focused on that aspect. Yes, I too had learned most of this in grade school, but there are some who are not as fortunate (or need a refresher). Neil DeGrasse Tyson's quote at the end of that episode is priceless...

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Stink Bomb
This series is what I like to refer to as a 'Dime Bag' documentary. In true History Chanel format, this series foregos intellectual content beyond adolescent levels, opting instead to work in as much sensationalism as possible. For example, a chapter entitled "The Most Violent Places in the Universe", threatens repeatedly that Black Holes are "Out There.. Prowling the darkness". The series is packed with this kind of crap, and it seems the History Chanel would have you believe that something out ... Read More
