Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Death Wish 3
I am partial to the Death Wish Series. I liked this one the least. It seemed too far fetched.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Absolutely stupid!
By this time anyone familiar with the first couple of Deathwish flicks knows the rape and murder storyline by heart but despite being a Bronson fan I had a tough time making it through DW3. This is an extraordinarily dumb movie! Once again Hollywood plays the stereotype to the hilt as evil bikers on Superglides and Yamaha 2strokes team up with maniacal painted street punks in what might be the most laughable vigilante movie ever written. Other than Charles Bronson's usual semi-deadpan but charming performance the acting from every angle in the third Deathwish is easily as a bad as the Marvell comics style writing.

The music is awful too and I say that despite being a Jimmy Page fan. In a way the score suits though as it's consistently hammed up and over the top just like everything else in this third rerun of the same old same old. Maybe the director (whoever he is) decided overacting by the entire cast and over amping the soundtrack would make up for Bronson's underacting and somehow balance things out. It doesn't!

I'm giving DW3 two stars for the comic relief even if it is unintentional.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - BLOWN AWAY
This movie is hilarious. The plot is horrible, let's be honest, its not Dirty Harry or the original Death Wish, but if your with your buddies and you want a good laugh, pop this bad boy into your dvd player and laugh like the joker because this is non-stop pure insane, ridiculous and completely fake action film. I mean for Christ sakes, he walks in the middle of town with a machine gun / gatling gun and mows down like a dozen punks. You have to have a crazy sense of humor to enjoy this one, but its worth it. The ending is the best where Bronson can't disarm the gang leader so he decides to wipe him out with a bazooka. I was laughing hysterical. It was also funny when the old war vet tried to single handedly engage the gang and his old machine gun from Nam is malfunctioned, so instead of killing him the normal way like all the other victims of the Death Wish series by gun shot, the gang decides to throw him off the balcony of his apartment. Its so funny and dumb at the same time. I mean the original Death Wish was excellent because it had a good plot and storyline and was somewhat realistic of a man avenging his family's death through vigilantism but this one is so fake and so ridiculous that it's funny. It seems as if every punk gets not only killed but completely obliverated. If you have a dark sense of humor and you like Charles Bronson and Clint Eastwood blowing people away, this movie is definitely for you. This is not the best movie of all time by a large margin, it did not and will never win an academy award, the acclaim for this movie will never be good, lets put it that way, but its so fun to watch. Its hilarious because you know its fake, its like the original Dawn of the Dead, the plot and storyline of that movie sucked, but why do people like it... because of the way the zombies got blown away. Same thing in this crazy Charles Bronson film. I love it, I'm telling you, I watch it just for the laughs, my friends like it too, so it shows how crazy we are. This is a must for action film buffs. Lets put it this way if this happened in real life, Kearsey's death wish would be the electric chair.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Death Wish 3
I always liked this movie. When I was a child I thought it was cool a movie was shot where I grow up at. But in truth the movie is a bit lame compared to other action movies or even Death Wish 1. But that does not stop me from watching this flick. This movie is great for all the wrong reasons.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good Fun
Plenty of people here have summarized what the film is about, so I won't. I'll try to add something original to the mix, so forgive me if I don't confine myself to describing the film's plot. The popularity of this film cannot be explained without a wider understanding of cultural conditions and sentiments at the time of its release. Death Wish was a bombshell, as it gave voice to how hundreds of thousands of people were feeling, sentiments people felt and may not have publicly expressed for fear of backlash from the PC movement. In a few sentences, the cultural circumstance referred to was a growing discontent with what was growingly considered to be misguided attempts to solve society's "problems." In the sixties the government gave itself the responsibility to "fix" many problems, from teenage pregnancy to poverty to drug use to discrimination to crime, with social "programs," judicial activism and new legislation. Ironically, ALL of these problems were already rapidly decreasing in the early sixties. Crime was HALF what it was in 1930, even if you don't control for the increase in the population!! Poverty was lessening each and every year. What happened after the social programs of the late sixties and the generation of the welfare state? Well, the crime rate literally exploded. So did teenage pregnancy. Poverty quadrupled. Another thing that happened was the rewriting of law to lessen the punishment of criminals to the result that even the criminals that were arrested and successfully prosecuted often ended right back out on the street in a matter of months to commit even more crimes. People were sick and tired of this crap. Some filmmakers new it, and tapped into this sentiment with wildly popular films like Death Wish, The Stone Killer, and Dirty Harry. An entire genre of "vendetta/revenge/let's take out the human garbage" films was born, and Charles Bronson, after Death Wish, was for a decade the most popular actor in the world. Bronson's presence is undeniable. The seventies threw up some wonderfully gritty films drenched in utter realism, and the Death Wish films are some of the greatest of all time. Death Wish 3 is a fun entry in the series. I'll never forget the teeth in the board!
