a really good product.of course it could have been better if it included more footage from prvious superbowls.almost 45 minytes of the run time its about super bowl 39. if the run time was equally divided for each super bowl the outcome would have been much better.anyway a good effort.the best part is "in their own words" which includes many interviews an d facts about the super bowl

If you want a rapid review of every super bowl, then this DVD is a good purchase. However it was almost to rapid of a summary, just giving a few minutes to each game. All in all I would have to rate this as very ordinary. However I purchased the DVD fairly cheap, so it wasn't a total loss.

Great review of highlights from all the previous Super Bowls.

It never fails: every four or five years, NFL Films puts out a brandy-new "Best Super Bowl Moments" video/DVD. Which isn't really a bad thing, seeing as how there have been a few Super Bowls in the interim to grab some fresh highlights off of, and toss onto the new video release. And boy, have there been some great highlights to toss onto this latest release, lemme tell ya. Especially when three of the last four games have been decided by three points, two of which were decided in the games' final moments...
Anyhoo: if you want to catch up on the best Super Bowl moments, but you don't have the patience to go through the entire run of half-hour Super Bowl highlight shows in NFL Films' Super Bowl Collection DVD sets (check `em out at www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00065GIK0 ), then this platter is for you. The first XXXVIII games are boiled down into two- to seven-minute long synopses featuring each contest's biggest highlights (e.g. Lynn Swann's amazing circus catch in Supe X and Montana's winning drive in XXIII) , and lowliest lowlights ("Garo's Gaffe", anybody?). The whole shebang is topped off with a 20-minute-long recap of the New England Patriots' close victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX. All in all, this platter's feature presentation is an ADD-suffering Super Bowl aficionado's dream!
Also thrown in for kicks is a show featuring several players and coaches reminiscing over their most memorable Super Bowl moments. Both the victors (such as Terry Bradshaw, Joe Namath, et.al.) and the vanquished (Fran Tarkenton, Don Beebe, and others) recount their experiences playing in the "Great American Time-Out". I found this presentation somewhat interesting, although I've seen and heard several of the players' & coaches' accounts before in previous Super Bowl retrospective shows.
Finally, there's the pair of "Road to Super Bowl XL" commercials, as well as the featurette that goes behind the scenes on the latter commercial. I never thought I'd see the day when they'd do a "making-of" special on a commercial... but there you have it. Anyhoo, the former commercial, featuring various game highlights mixed in with an "odometer" theme, was somewhat interesting, while the latter ad, which featured notable players of the present being "touched" by Super Bowl greats of the past, was a little silly and just a tad odd.

This was similar to a hard to find DVD titled Ultimate Super Bowl Collection. Infact from 1-36 it appears the same except it all seems so crystal clear. Colors improved etc. Now with the last 3 Super bowls (37 being condenced from 18 to 7 min.) it's Awesome fun to watch again and again (all together or just the blunder bowl etc).
The best part is the 23 minute recap of Super Bowl 39 from an all new perspective. I imagine it will be the same version if and when Warner releases the 5 DVD collection of XXXI-XL.
Be careful of rebuying the Team Dvd collections. I bout Green Bay Super bowl collection DVD thinking it would be season highlights of their super bowl season but I & II are just the same as in the larger collection as I'm sure XXXI will be.
The "in their own words" segment is terrific and may be the same as the DVD in the new Super Bowl book recently released.
I'd give the DVD 5 Stars just for the price.
