The best part is, that these films are now the correct format (widescreen) and have a dolby DTS soundtrack. The unfortunate part is they are the director's cut, which in this case is a few minutes shorter. Now while I didn't notice the parts cut out, it would be nice to have a double pack that is in the original release format. The other option is to spend 50% more or so and buy them individually, and I don't believe they have DTS/proper widescreen.
Anyhow, they are great quality, they make you laugh, and it's a good price. Honestly the cut out screens didn't affect me (who takes Ace Ventura films for their cinematic quality anyways), I just wanted to laugh.

I gave these 2 stars because of the lack of special features. Yes, there are trailers and TV Spots and the directors talking during the films....and that's it. I really don't think that anyone truly wants to see the TV spots anymore. I remember when they were actually coming on TV and I was sick of them by the time they stopped airing. I haven't actually gone through all of the spots and trailers, because more than likely it's either very few, or WAY too many of the original, just cut and shortened. My next urk with this set is that in AVPD, this set cuts my FAVORITE scenes. When Ace climbs out of the tank and the reporters asks to he is and he goes on this stupid rant as a Dolphin Trainer. Yeah, that scene is completely cut out, so it goes from him in the tank to him sneeking around the side to find the ember from the ring. The last disc is the cartoon mini-series (watch them and you'll see why it didn't last long). Overall if you just want to watch the movies and laugh, go ahead. I just think it should have been better.

This is a collection of two of the funniest movies of all time. It's nice to get them on DVD, but I noticed that some of the scenes in "Pet Detective" were missing. Other than that, great buy.

These two movies are classics. Some of Jim Carrey's funnest movies he has ever done! If you love Dumb and Dumber you will love these too!!!

Always a comic favorite,Jim Carrey plays the jumpy excitive pet detective Ace Ventura. Besides rescuing the occasional dog or cat,Ace lives the good life. However,he is called on an assignment involving a missing dolphin. Tension rises as he discovers the dolphin is the Super Bowl mascot.Ace immediatly gets on the case,with the occasional butt-talking,tutu-wearing humor.Ace then links the kidnapping to a Dolphin kicker named Ray Finkle,who is after Dan Marino,who he blames for missing a big kick in the last Super Bowl. Ace then links Finkle to Lieuntenant Einhorn,who turns out to be Ray Finkle in siguise.It's non-stop laughs as Ace,with the help of a Dolphins advisor named Melissa,takes back what is his and does what he does best!
