I was a fan of Pierce Brosnan since Goldeneye, never was so convinced with Dalton because it was too serious for the role. Brosnan was fresh, funny and again a playboy with a gun.
All was going alright, till the Casino Royale release. Daniel Craig is a strong actor of indie movies, so how is going to be? Fantastic!
I repeat the movie several times on a month and the mood of the becaming is just fantastic, the times, the shots, the plot, the agent and M make so important this movie for the herein of the double oh seven.
PS. I am graphic designer, and my final comment is about main titles of the movie, the mixture between Chris Cornell and the animation of poker cards environment put the cherry over the milkshake... What a piece of entertainment we have here!

This film starts in monochrome to suggest the distant past. James Bond is on an assignment to eliminate a traitor in a very dramatic way. [No doubling considered?] In Uganda we see suitcases filled with money - for a safe investment. In Madagascar a man is chased to a construction site, and ends in an embassy. Will such actions be repeated? The code word is "Ellipsis". Bond uses high-tech methods to gain information from a cellular phone. Can `M' trust Bond? He needs a vacation. [Note the informal dress compared to earlier decades.] Bond uses a ruse to get the name of a car owner. Who is Mr. Demetrious? Bond wins big at cards. A telephone call sends Bond to Miami. A bag is switched, and this leads to more action with a fuel truck. Bond prevents a disaster at the airport. Shorting stocks after 9/11 made a fortune for a few.
On the train to Montenegro Bond gets his cash. Vesper Lynd brings the message, and they match their wits. Later there is a high stakes card game. During a break there is a lot of action. Back at the table Le Chiffre wins big. Did Bond lose because of his ego? An ally advances fund to Bond. But another drink is too much. A phone call brings help. Vesper arrives in time. Bond is back in the game. Fortune smiles on Bond - a straight flush! Le Chiffre has lost all. There is a car chase in the night, and a crash. Bond is captured and tortured in a gross scene. Wil he give up the password? Will Bond be saved? Who will be next? Then Bond and Vesper spend time on the beach. How long will that last? Is there a problem with the funds on deposit? There is exciting action that causes a house to collapse into the waters of Venice. The last scenes wrap up the loose ends. Is there a last message for Bond?
The film was changed a lot from the original novel, which was simpler and better. The old theme song is repeated when they roll the credits. There was a lot of product placement. This film has the most acrobatic James Bond; was it CGI? The script seems slower than the classic films from the 1960s. I think this film has an over-complicated plot with too many scenes. It has one educational part when it shows how a "heart attack" can be created. [Remind you of "The Parallax View"?] The exotic locales continue to entertain.
