A supposed greatest hits package, this CD contains a mere 54 mintues of music - leaving 25 minutes of blank disc - and contains such a random sampling that someone may as well have thrown darts to pick them. A "Favorites" CD with no Imperial March, Asteroid Belt, Cantina Band, Han & Leia love theme, or Duel of the Fates? Don't waste your time with this one.

There's not enough here to make this worth picking up for a major Williams fan. The songs are great, but there isn't enough. I don't know what they were aiming for here, the casual Williams' listener?

It's good to have a CD that contains music from all the six episodes of the saga. However, this CD is a grave disappointment. Despite the advertising on the cover that says that these themes are supposed to be the most popular, this is only an arbitrary selection of themes. Although we get to hear the famous Main Titles, we don't get to hear things like Princess Leia's Theme or the Imperial March in their entirety, let alone Yoda's Theme or the haunting Across the Stars. Instead, these themes are just an arbitrary selection of themes handpicked by a compiler at Target, for whom this disc was marketed. This disappointing CD release makes a travesty of the Star Wars scores as presented on CD, and I think it would probably be better that Sony-BMG had compiled a CD of all the concert suites from the saga. Meanwhile I'm still looking out for a proper CD with all the important Star Wars themes, and maybe Williams (or even Kunzel) might be willing to release such a disc.

This is the first time I've given a low mark for a Star Wars CD. If you own all the soundtracks, then you have already the music and MORE than what is presented here. If you don't own any Star Wars soundtracks, I recommend getting the 30th anniversary release (this comes packaged with it, by the way) and the soundtracks for episodes I-III. I can only see this release being purchased by someone who wants a very bare-bones listening experience or all the basic themes on one disc. The Music of Star Wars: 30th Anniversary Collection

Does this release have some cool Star Wars music? Yes. Does it have anything new at all? No. I recommend getting all of the individual movie soundtracks instead. If you aleady have them all, then this release would be a complete waste of money. Make your own compilation.
