My boys, ages 11 & 8, both love this game. The graphics are better than the ealier version, and the wireless steering wheel is a big hit. I purchased an extra one so they both can use them.

This is a video game made for earlier Nintendo consoles and adapted to Wii. It is an excellent fun game but the buyer should be aware that it does not involve physical activity like games made specifically for the Wii. It's nice to take a break and sit down to Mario Kart, but I usually end up doing a few races and then going back to Wii sports (still the best) or Wii fit.
I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because the on-line setup and connections are klunky. To register your Mii's with a friend over the internet, both must be on-line at the same time. And once you're officially "friends", it is still difficult to get logged in to play a game together. The Wii servers are usually busy with other games. This feature is not well supported.

As someone new to Wii and having never played a Mario Kart game before, all I can say is that I'm having a blast with it! The tracks are smooth and inventive, the graphics are colorful, and the gameplay is enjoyable. Plus, it's fun to race players from around the world with the Internet option. I play with the wheel, and the controls seem accurate and responsive. Great for kids of all ages!

I like Mario Kart because if you fall off the road it will put you back on. And if you get a question mark you can get things like a rocket or a banana.
But how to play Mario Kart? You push two for the gas and one for the brake. But by the way watch out for obstacles like a banana. And if you bump someone you won't blow-up.

Overall this is one of the best games for Wii in my opinion. If you've ever played the classic Mario Kart for N64 you'll most likely enjoy this version too. The racing maps are well designed and there's plenty of variety throughout. The Wii wheel works great as a controller but you don't need it to play as long as you have a Wii remote. It's really fun to play alone but it's great to have a few people play with you in races.
My only complaint regards the VS "battle" mode that allows you to battle other players. I think this part of the game was changed for the worse since the N64 version, it's still fun but there aren't enough options and there's a time limit that makes it feel more like a "minigame" than an important multiplayer addition.
Yet overall, improved graphics, the Wii wheel, and a classic but revamped take on Nintendo's finest characters and themes make this game a must have for Wii owners.
