I guess I can give it at least one star. There were a couple of humorous parts but for the most part this moved sucked badly. The plot was really awful and the way they went about the movie was distasteful. I'm really annoyed that I spent money to rent this. Had I paid to see it in the theaters I would have demanded my money back!

This film is simply... the antithesis to what we consider a great film. When you start seeing, you want to turn it off because you can not believe the raunchiness of it all, and soon, you start laughing at some of the situations and continue to watch in the hopes that it gets better... and sometimes it does, and sometimes it is so bad that you continue to laugh asking ourselves... Where in the name of heaves did this plot come from?
The main actor, Dane Cook, plays Charlie "Chuck" Logan, a kid that we see as the movie starts playing a game, where a friend places a curse on him, that he shall never find true love and that all women that have a relationship with him, will find true love when they leave him.
The word gets out and soon, every woman in the world is at his door because once they date him, they will find the man of their dreams. Most men would kill for this to happen, but Charlie has met Cam Wexler, played by Jessica Alba, and he is in love. When they are about to become serious, he realizes that once she is with him, she will leave him for the next romance which will turn into the real thing. Many circumstances will leave you laughing your heart off, some will leave you so disgusted... you may choose to turn off the TV, but if you see it to the end, for the most part, this movie is rather funny.
When the movie was over, we started to laugh at the fact that we had just endured a rather new experience... so... at your own peril... give it a try!

This movie starts out gross, and then it goes way beyond that. There is no need to discuss the plot, the script, how the actors performed, etc. This film breaks almost all standards of decency. I don't mean nudity, or swearing, or any traditional measurements of decency. I mean this movie makes you want to take a bath in clorox.
I suppose this is what happens when someone who thinks they are funny, watches a Judd Apatow movie and says (very mistakenly), "Hey, that looks easy. I can do that."
As a 40ish young man, I am all for toilet humor, sexual innuendo, and gags about female anatomy. But this is just bad taste done badly.
Dane Cook has sex with some of the worst uglyness for the most ugly reasons that can be imagined. His friend has sex with a grapefruit with a hole in it. You find yourself saying, "He's not going to do that. I think he's going to do that. Ugh! He just did that."
I disagree with the folks who don't like Jessica Alba. I think she is a good actress and very believable as a love interest. But think about her terrible fate in this movie - if she gets "the guy" - she'll get a guy who has had sex with thousands of people! And a few space aliens, and perhaps selected barnyard animals (I'm assuming these scenes were shot, but at the last minute, edited out of the final footage). Gross!
Not to be totally negative, I suppose this movie does explain why so many people have sexually transmitted diseases.

I like Dane Cook in other films, likable, comedic actor, easy to laugh, but Good Luck Chuck, I warn you, it is AWFUL. Do not watch this stupid gross out of a movie. Even the girls without their clothes doin' the deed, come on, this is a date flick, maybe in a sleasy theater downtown wearing a raincoat. DO NOT RENT THIS FILM!

I personally found this movie to be quite funny. There were some hilarious scenes and one liners. I am thick skinned so the movie did not offend me but I guess some people who are not as thick skinned as I may have a problem with certain overtones of the movie. If one is that sensitive they should not take it out on giving the movie a bad review. I found this to be very funny and my fiance' and I laughed all the way through the movie.
