 Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Over-hyped scooter
This is at least the sixth scooter that we've owned and the third with unconventional propulsion (the other two were electric). My conclusion from this experience: Stick with a basic scooter.

This particular scooter employs a spring-loaded chain, allowing the rider to propel the scooter forward by pumping a lever with one foot. Contrary to the maker's claim it does not exhibit "blazing speed", unless perhaps you go down a steep hill without using the brake. You can push faster the old fashioned way, with a foot on the ground.

Our scooter stopped working after about a half-hour's use by our eleven-year-old. The manual was no help, but after some trial-and-error I figured out that an idler wheel that the chain passes over wasn't turning freely, which caused the chain to slacken, delaying the foot pedal from returning to its starting point. Some oil into the bearings (assuming that there are bearings inside - I didn't take the wheel apart) fixed the problem, at least for now. But the scooter never should have left the factory with such a basic flaw. Even without this problem this is not a scooter that's going to sustain interest from our kids.

You should at least try to take a test drive - and preferably outside, not in the confines of a toy store - before you buy.

If want a new-tech scooter take a look at the Power Wing. It can take some time to get the hang of it - if necessary find someone to show you the ropes - but for us it held the kids' interest longer. And there are fewer things to go wrong mechanically.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - It's okay
My son hasn't had any real complaints except that the chain has loosened. Cosmetically, the kick stand fell off the same day we took it out of the box. I'm just glad that the spring-loaded contraption didn't hit anyone. Other than that, he seems to like it.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Fun, but a little lame
As the parent I was disappointed in the Kick 'N Go since the kicking doesn't propel you very far and the speed is limited. If you are on level ground it works ok, but can be difficult going up hill. To be effective the Kick 'N Go would need gears to adjust for the situation and that would probably be difficult to design it.

From the kid's side, my son does enjoy it and would probably rate it with more stars, but it appears to be a novelty that may be wearing off.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This Scooter ROCKS !!!!
I was very surprised to see negative comments on this scooter, I have not seen a better quality product for this price in Years. I love this thing.

I originally bought the Kick and Go for my Sons 7th Birthday... and he could not stop riding it, Inside the house, the garage, the living room, you name it. It had to be parked in his room. He wanted to make sure no one would ride it. So of course, I had to try. All I can say is that I wish they had one when I was younger... what a blast.

Last week we were at our weekly trip to Toys r Us and to my delight, they have a new smaller Nitrous model out.... This was meant to be. I decide to buy my Son the smaller model, because this would be "easier" for him. This was a great call on my end. My wife thinks I'm a great Dad, my son loves this one even more..... and I have a Kick and Go for my self now !! I mounted 2 cup holders on it and now cruise it back and forth to my Neighbors.

My neighborhood is now the Proud owner of 5 adult guys ridding around on Kick N' Go's with Cup holders.

THESE SCOOTERS ARE AWESOME !!!!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - scooter better for older kids
I purchased this for my 7 year old for his birthday. The foot mechanism that pumps it to go is too hard for him to push and the handle bars even on the lowest setting is way too high for him. I have a teen son and this scooter would be more fitting for him at his age. I would recommend only for older children ... maybe 10 and up.
