Burn Notice is a very clever, witty, laid back and a very entertaining thriller.
It starts out with a spy in a middle of a top-secret mission getting `burned' (fired without warning and left to fend for yourself) he escapes and later finds himself awaking and stuck in Miami with all his accounts frozen. To make ends meet, he basically takes up odd jobs as sort of a Private Detective while he searches for the reason he was `burned'.
Jason Donovan is perfect in this role and Gabrielle Anwar whom I have had a crush on since `Scent of A Woman' sizzles in this series! And how can I not mention Jason's goofy sidekick Bruce Cambell who takes this series humour to a different level. The finale for the season in this box set combines both part 1 and 2 into one seamless explosive action packed punch! Can hardly wait for season 2...

With all the junk on TV, this series is a relief to watch. It's exciting with lots of action, good plots, and the humorous lines between the actors really makes the show. Usually voiceovers are distracting, annoying; here, Jeffrey Donovan does a superb job with just the right note of sarcasm. Really can't improve this series. All of the supporting actors do a terrific job. The only negative note is the short season this runs. I so look forward to it I had to buy the first season so I can still enjoy it when it is off season. Buy this one! Money well spent.

I first saw Jeffrey Donovan on the Pretender as "Kyle", Jarod's brother. This show gives him a chance to show his range and the man does have range. He convincing plays macho, craven, nerd etc. as his operational plan requires. He is a "burned" CIA agent, who lost his credentials in a frame up, trying to clear his name. While this is going on he gets sucked into helping his Mother (Sharon Gless), friends Gabrielle Anwar and Bruce Johnson and also indirectly by whoever "burned" him to work his way closer to who did it and why it was done. Good action, good acting, characters with depth..a good show.
