This is my three year old son's first action figure, and I think it's a good one for him (even though the packaging says 4+). Overall it appears to be durable, although I will report back if he manages to mangle it after more usage data!
PROS:
1. great appearance
2. lots of movable joints
3. durable spring action 'gun'
4. You can actually get the figure to stand on its own, unlike every Barbie doll ever created (I have a daughter).
CONS:
1. Inexplicably, they included removable shoulder pads that are a joke - they won't stay on at all. Perhaps those are for the collectors who put Iron Man on display and don't actually play with the figure.
2. The legs have so many movable joints that they are awkward to adjust at times.
3. The pale blue 'bullet' for the gun easily blends into carpeting and furniture, prompting lots of searching by the parents! I solved this with a little paint - see the picture I posted.
I gave this toy 4 stars overall because of the shoulder pad thing. Otherwise so far so good on this action figure!

After seeing the "Iron Man" movie (which is fantastic), as well as being a fan of the character, I had to snag one of these figures. It is beautifully detailed with 20 points of articulation. For a plastic figure, the metallic look is very nicely done. Of course, I would prefer to have one that is made of real metal and contains the same amount of articulation, but I don't think that's going to happen. Would be awesome nonetheless. There are a few negative point areas for the figure though. The main one concerns the shoulder armor. Both pop off way too easily, making it the first pieces to be lost by a child. Second, the hands can not be raised into a vertical position, like Stark is about to fire a repulsor blast. Third, the legs are difficult to position into a good pose for placing on a shelf (for those of us that like to display our figures). Other than that, I really like it. Except for the huge, stupid cannon that comes with it. Totally unneeded. Wasn't in the movie, don't need it with the figure. Lastly, you might want to search one of these out in the stores, if possible, instead of getting online. The reason being is that a lot have botched paint jobs, especially on the legs. I had to look at three before finding one that looked good all around. If you want a decent figure portrayal of Iron Man, the 7" is a good start. Otherwise, snag the 12" Repulsor-Power version.

Like all action figures, the fragility is balanced with usability. Hasbro has gone with more durability on this edition like the GI Joe with the sacrifice of position like their Transformers.
The detail is sufficient for most kids, but collectors will have to look closely at the paint scheme because it can be spotty at times due to Hasbro pushing these out fast for the movie probably. The packaging is a lot nicer than the GI Joe and Transformers and would keep nicely as a collectible.
The fun factor is there no doubt. I like how multiple versions are being produced instead of just the final version.
This is a toy well worth the minor nuisances of the paint scheme and lower mobility of its joints. Loved the movie. Now the kids will love blowing apart their lego jets and transformers with their new hero.

I bought this toy for my little tomboy girl and gave it to her in the car right after we watched the Ironman movie. She loves it, thus the three stars for fun, but she does get annoyed with parts falling off of it. I knew it was going to be a problem when she raised one of the arms and the shoulder pad just popped off. The paint job doesn't seem very good. It's a think coat in some areas and thin in others. The head doesn't move at all and the gun doesn't stay on the arm very well. The movie was great but this toy just doesn't measure up.

The Marvel Legends series have the best designed toys and articulatio, but the movie based marvel toys are decent, the legs and and arms move well but do not have as much freedom as you'd like, the shoulder pads on this toy fall off with the lightest touch, that said the toy is very durable, i didn't throw it but i dropped it down the stairs and paint is still on the arms and legs unaffected. overall a toy is a toy it's fun.
