Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Garbage
It was difficult to connect with any of the characters. Maria Bello made an awful Evie. She was annoying where she should have been endearing.

The story was uninteresting. The villain's story felt as though they threw it together in five minutes.

I literally fell asleep several times in the theater.

I love Jet Li, but the role they gave him was in no way worthy of him. The Asian mother and daughter were the only highlight of the movie for me.

If you want to see action in China with a bit of humor added, I strongly recommend the Forbidden Kingdom which is set to come out on DVD on 9/8/08.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Summer Popcorn Film Courtesy of Cohen, Fraser, etc.
I haven't seen the previous installments in "The Mummy" franchise, but "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" was a lot of fun, even if I think both Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh were badly misused in their overall screen time. However, I was delighted to see that Brendan Fraser can act credibly in an action-adventure thriller that I found to be more fun than the latest "Indiana Jones" film (However, that Indiana Jones film is artistically better due to both better production values and a better screenplay from Spielberg and company.). But this is a film that is more fun in a cinematic "thrill ride" sense, with non-stop action galore. Director Rob Cohen and his writers have played a bit fast and loose with Chinese history (e. g. Emperor Han never existed, but is based on China's first emperor, who did unite brutally China's independent states nearly two and a half millenia ago; this temporary state did lead to the long-lived Han Dynasty which ruled China during the height of the Roman Empire.). Probably the best reasons to see this latest installment of the "Mummy" franchise is to see Michelle Yeoh as the immortal witch Zi Juan and Isabella Leong as her daughter Lin. Mummy veteran John Hannah steals almost every scene that he's in playing Rick O'Connell's (Brendan Fraser) brother-in-law Jonathan Carnahan. While some of the violence - mostly swordplay and beheading - may be too much for younger viewers, this is a great summer popcorn film which deserves its PG-13 rating.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor- Falling Short of The Mummy and The Mummy Returns
I went to see the third installment in the Mummy trilogy, hoping that it was as good as the first two. But to be honest, it falls short. First things first, Mario Bella's character is not as beautiful or as charming as Rachel Weisz. It just seems that the whole film wasn't right.

Despite the advertising of the three headed dragon, it is barely in the entire movie. It can only be seen for about a three minute time period. That was very discouraging to me, since I was hoping for a interesting battle. Also the trio of Yeti, that appear in the film, are not giant gorilla like at all! This was also a major mistake in the film, since most eyewitnesses say that the Yeti looks like a giant 12- 14 foot tall white gorilla.

It feels like the whole thing was just rushed. Despite this though, the film still comes out as very entertaining and worth viewing at least once. Brendan Fraser, as usual, is the best out of them. Jet-Li puts in an okay performance. However, I was hoping for a mummy vs. mummy match between the dragon emperor and Imhotep. Now that would have made the story interesting. Two mummies battling for power. But sadly, that is not the case.

Despite these factors, The Mummy 3 is actually entertaining, even though it is not as good as the first two Mummy films.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good Always Conquers Evil Even If It Has To Wait Thousands Of Years
On the outside, Rick and Evelyn O'Connell (Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello) appear to be a wealthy, adventuresome family. Deep inside, however, they have the same fears and troubles as you and I. They are a family that is being torn apart by a neglect to communicate. They are losing touch with their grown son Alex (Luke Ford). However, the resurrection of an evil, mummified Chinese emperor (Jet Li) will change all that.

Wow! "Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" is an action packed thrill ride that will leave you breathless. It must have cost a fortune to produce. The sets are extravagant. The special effects are awesome. There is never a dull moment from beginning to end.

An ancient army rising from an excavated tomb; an evil, powerful emperor; a beautiful stone that points to Shangri La; a fountain of youth that gives immortality; and Abominable Snowmen in the Himalayans. The O'Connells encounter all of this as they struggle to save the world, as well as their own family, from destruction. Because of their peril, the O'Connells are brought closer together. Rick and Evelyn's bonds of love grow tighter. Alex finds love with a young woman, Lin (Isabella Leong), who has guarded the tomb of the emperor for centuries.

Zi Juan (Michelle Yeoh) is the most interesting of the characters in "Tomb of the Dragon Emperor." Thousands of years ago, she was a witch who promised the Emperor immortality. In return, he promised to give her anything she wanted. She only wanted to wed her true love, General Ming Guo. The Emperor betrayed her by killing the general. The witch placed a curse on the Emperor who is mummified along with his army. Zi Juan and her daughter, Lin, have guarded their secret tomb, determined to destroy the Emperor if anyone should resurrect him. Zi Juan patiently awaits the day when she will kill the Emperor with a magic dagger and avenge her lover's death.

"Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" is a strong sequel in the Mummy series and is highly recommended viewing for the entire family. Not much is here in the way of profanity - only action and romance.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Needed more story!
What made the first two Mummy movies great were the story line and the perfect mixture of dialogue and action. This 3rd installment has plenty of action but a very weak plot line and hardly any dialogue. There were a few funny moments/one liners so I did enjoy that and I'm glad they kept that similar humor as the other two movies.

In my opinion they should've wrote Rachel Weisz's character out of the movie, it just didn't "feel" right with Maria Bello playing the part, she's a fine actress but something was off, maybe it was the lack of chemistry between her and Brendan Fraser.

It just seemed like a rushed movie with no substance, I love some good action but it gets boring without a good story to go along with it. 3 stars from me.
