Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Definitely a waste of time
2.5 stars. A bland and unrealistic plot (like the little girl wouldn't have known whether her mother was a writer or not). The actors were fine, but there's nothing memorable about this movie. At no time did I get the warm fuzzies or was I rooting for Will to get the girl of his dreams. There's a similar premise to the movie Serendipity (it even includes a thread about a lost book) with the idea of love needing the right timing. Watch at your own risk.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - DEFINITELY MAYBE........MAYBE NOT!
OK, romantic comedy with a first rate cast! The film itself is a little too long for this type of fare, but most will find it enjoyable. The biggest problem I had with it is it just took too long to get where it was going. It's worth a rental, but I wouldn't buy it. It's kind of like the TV sitcom 'How I Met Your Mother' only longer and not as funny!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Maybe...no, definitely, stop complaining
Which part of the plot did certain people miss when they sat down to watch this and rate it decidedly as a 'children's' movie?
Oh my goodness gracious!
It's a movie about a little girl who doesn't like the idea of her father divorcing her mother... Now her father will sit down and set the record straight as he goes through 3 women who he was involved with, and the daughter must guess which woman her mother was in the story.
It's rated PG-13. That means if your kids are under 13, maybe you should think twice about letting them see it.
Reviews like this really tick me off. Is there a shortage of kids' movies or something? Rent a movie that's rated G, and stop complaining, or shut the door to your bedroom. Good lord.

I mean, here I am wasting time, just like the movie did about halfway through. I wanted to like this movie SO much more than I did, because I love Breslin and Fisher. The acting itself isn't a problem at all. It's just that Ryan Reynolds is a bit boring
(*****SPOILER, DO NOT READ AHEAD******)

...a bit boring with Banks (Emily), so I just didn't get it. He loved her, he forgot about her, he was rejected by her, and then he forgot her only to remember her again for...a minute. To procreate.

The main problem with this story is the lack of suspense. After a while I wanted Reynolds to stop whining and do something different. His whole life felt like it was at the whim of who he ran into on the streets of NY. His character neither annoyed me nor charmed me. It was putting me to sleep after a while though. How this guy could juggle 3 attractive, intelligent women is beyond me. He just didn't get to exude any charisma.

The story SOUNDS suspenseful and it is to an extent, but it doesn't deliver because it runs all over the place and the suspense is killed off by scattered energy. I could almost read the script as it was getting acted out. Here we have these great actors and they're getting stifled by this set of behavior which is completely undecided.

I wanted to really like this story more. I loved Breslin in Little Miss Sunshine. She's so precocious and lovely. You can feel her urgency in this movie, an unconscious cry to MAKE something more interesting happen, as the boring adults play a game of dating which isn't really interesting at all.
More romance, more authenticity, more story, and more definitive plot was needed in this movie.
They really seemed like they couldn't decide which direction exactly to take it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Pulls out all the emotions
This is a movie many, like myself, will be able to enjoy over and over again. It is funny, sad, and romantic. Great acting.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - "LOVE's" Story (Life?)... For All !!! Well... Over 11 Yrs Old !?!

Wow!! What a wonderful movie!! I was pleasantly surprised!! I thought, "Oh boy another romantic, mushy movie" - but no!!!

This movie was very captivating, entertaining and alluring, invoking you to play along ...Who was to be Dad's future wife?

Huh?!?

Our main character [Ryan Reynolds] is pretty much divorced when the movie starts... all he has to do is sign the papers which arrive in the very first scene.

In comes his 11 year old daughter [Abigal Breslin] whom he has to pick up from school that day. When our man (dad) arrives at school everyone... child, teacher and parents alike are all in frenzy!!

Why? ...This day was the daughter's/students first sex education class.

Result? Questions upon questions, leading to the demanded telling of Dad's relationships [lol!! starting right after college] and how she (the daughter) came to be.

The twist and rules that follows are the best part... all the names are to be changed and in the end the daughter has to figure out who was to be her mother, how it came to be that her father and mother got married and ultimately had a child!!!

Who mom was to be!?! Fun and charming filled with many loops and turns!!

There are no real clues [except for your personal deduction] until the very end!!!

What a ride... . Kudos!! 5 Stars!!
